Maria Romita

Health Administrator/Physiotherapist Assistant

If you are looking to book an appointment with one of our providers or have questions about forms and services, Maria will be glad to assist you. Maria’s roles are helping patients at the front desk as well as one-on-one patient treatment; from guiding them through their exercises to providing passive therapy.

Maria is knowledgeable and patient while working with patients. She brings a positive attitude to the team and is always willing to assist when needed. She is currently studying Kinesiology in her undergraduate career and is looking forward to specializing in a form of a physical therapy in her future.

Her main priority is helping the patients progress while having a smile on their face.

David Cheung, PT

Registered Physiotherapist

David completed his Masters in Physical Therapy in 2008 and has been practicing as a Physiotherapist since. Prior to doing so he worked in the field as a physiotherapy assistant while completing his specialized kinesiology degree in 2005. Working/volunteering in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation for a combined 15 years has grown David’s technical skills and experience that has proven valuable in his past 10 years as a Physiotherapist. He has been successful in treating a wide range of orthopedic disorders ranging from sprains/strains, post fracture/surgical, and chronic disorders of various regions of the body. In addition to his practical experience in the field, David continues to grow his knowledge base by completing various rehabilitation related courses by the Advanced Physical Therapy Education Institute, McKenzie method, and obtaining a certification in Acupuncture by the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute.

Najih Ismail, PT

Resident Physiotherapist

Najih is a physiotherapy resident graduating from the McMaster Physiotherapy Program with a previous degree in Biomedical Sciences from Ryerson University. His passion for physical activity, anatomy, and personal experiences with muscular injuries inspired him to become a physiotherapist. He enjoys empowering patients by helping them understand how to treat, manage, and prevent their injuries.  Najih utilizes a patient-centered approach with an emphasis on listening to patients in order to best understand their individual goals and needs. He has had previous experience treating patients with neurological, musculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory conditions in clinical and hospital settings.  He has experience treating postural issues, muscular injuries, chronic pain, athletes and post-surgical patients using up-to-date evidence in his treatment. In his spare time he enjoys playing sports, trying new foods, and spending time with his friends & family.

Dr. Ben Li, DC

Chiropractor

Contemporary Acupuncture Provider

Dr. Li is a graduate from New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) after completing his Bachelors program in Neuroscience and Biology from University of Toronto. Dr. Li is currently an active member of the Ontario Chiropractic Association (OCA) and the Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA). Dr. Li is a diversified practitioner specializing in musculoskeletal injuries by utilizing a vast array of techniques including chiropractic, neuro-functional acupuncture, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, Active Release Technique as well as postural and functional correction. In order to provide his patients with the highest quality of care possible, Dr. Li is also constantly pursuing and refining his clinical tools through continuing education programs.

Beatrice Borenstein, RMT

Registered Massage Therapist

Beatrice was born and raised in Montreal and has been a resident of Markham for over 20 years. She is a registered massage therapist with almost 10 years of experience since graduating from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy. She was on the honour roll and was the recipient of the Trish Beck award. She was voted as an individual recognized by her classmates for her friendliness and for being supportive. Beatrice is well versed in many massage techniques including cupping therapy and is happy to helping you feel better!

Ratanak Sarn, RMT

Registered Massage Therapist

Ratanak graduated from Wellsprings college of massage therapy. Prior to starting her career as a massage therapist she learned a variety of spa treatments while working in the spa industry. Ratanak is able to utilize a variety of techniques to create a treatment plan that is ideal for each client to help restore the body to its optimum functioning. She is truly committed to expanding her knowledge, skills and experience in order to provide each client with optimal care.

Jeff Tin, RMT

Registered Massage Therapist

Jeff has always enjoyed a very active lifestyle, from participating in various sports to experiencing new and exciting adventures. His 10 years of practice has allotted him extensive experience treating people from different walks of life. Jeff specializes in athletes such as National Muay Thai fighters, marathon runners, and triathletes etc. However his techniques can be applied to office workers as well as those simply interested in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Jeff’s creativity shines in the use of Swedish massage, Thai Yoga massage, and deep tissue techniques that he can tailor to specific muscle pain that sets him apart. From a background of sports therapy, he is also able to demonstrate various resistance workouts and stretches to help patients regain full muscle strength and flexibility.

Deborah Dunphy, D.Ch

Chiropodist

Deborah graduated as a Chiropodist from the Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences in 1986. Deborah treats a variety of foot abnormalities, including flat feet, heel pain, lower back pain and knee pain. She also provides conservative treatment for foot disorders, including corns, calluses, warts, problematic toenails and orthotic therapy. Deborah’s vast experience, thorough patient management-care and education have made her an integral part of PhysioCore. When Deborah is not looking after her patients, she enjoys spending time with her two children, her husband, and their dog.

Marcus Tong, B.Sc

Kinesiology Graduate / Exercise Specialist

Marcus graduated from the University of Waterloo after completing the Kinesiology (exercise science) program. His main role at the clinic is being an exercise specialist and physiotherapy assistant. He is knowledgable and passionate about exercising and keeping active. Patients love working with him as Marcus focuses on keeping consistency in movement and exercise techniques as well as motivating patients to push to their limits. Marcus’ hobbies include working out, dancing, and gaming. Marcus is excited as he plans his journey to become a Physiotherapist.

Shivam Tripathi, B.Sc

Kinesiology Graduate / Exercise Specialist

Shivam graduated from an Honours Kinesiology program after attending McMaster University. He has spent his undergraduate years as a strength and conditioning coach for the men’s Varsity football, basketball, and volleyball teams. Shivam’s main role at our clinic is being a Physiotherapy Assistant and Exercise Specialist. Shivam ensures to provide the greatest care and attention to patients when guiding them through exercises, performing treatment and answering any questions one may have.

In his spare time, Shivam enjoys working out, playing golf and reading crime/thriller novels.

Shivam’s goal is to provide the highest level of patient care as he plans to become a Physician Assistant in the future.
